Creative, playful and stylish. Julien Vallee has once again 'hit the money' with his opening titles for MTV Hits Australia. Brilliant designer and director. Well worth checking out his site to see his other works.
Make It Better
It's not often I find myself at home on Friday night. So I've decided to use it semi-wisely. The semi wasting sereval hours with my addiction the 'The Wire'.
Came across 'Make It Better' by Climent Canal & Sebastián Baptista. A beautiful piece of design and animation that challenges you to look at your work and do exactly that. Make it Better. It's already recieved over 2,000 likes on Vimeo and praise from many including Jr Canest who I consider to be an AE animation pro.
Enjoy
Sour's 'Hibi no Neiro'
You can't help but smile while watching this video. The piece co-directed by Who-Fu, Hal Kirkland & Masa Kawamura, was created using footage captured by webcam from people from all over the globe. It was a big hit in Japan and was acclaimed at the Tokyo Type Director's Club and the Japan Media Festival. Sit back and enjoy.
Hit 'clubRed'
Just came across Robert Leger's short film 'clubRed' that he created a couple of years ago for his final year project at Uni.
Considering, he was learning Cinema 4d while making this piece and had very little help apart from 5 macs permanently rendering, he has produced a beautifully intriguing and engaging video.
What stands out for me is his cinematic style shot choices, cohesive colour palette and his talent for story telling. Check it out. Leave feedback on his vimeo page.
Syfy Idents - Man vs. Machine / Proud
London design studio ManvsMachine collaborated with Proud back in 2009 to rebrand the Sci Fi channel.
The idents and the general on-air look is simple, elegant and modern. I really like the contrast of the colourful elements against it's white setting. The idents are all very intriguing and have the sense of a revelling mystery about them, no doubt to reflect the type of programming shown on Syfy.
I recently went to hear Man vs. Machine speak at 'See No Evil' event in Old Street, London in April. They have have some great work to showcase so check them out.
