At the start of 2016, UEFA's workforce were supplied with new laptops.  It was a large undertaking for UEFA's ICT team as this meant organising changing 400+ devices.  To help notify staff and make them aware of the change and the procedures they would need to follow I designed and produced a series of videos that detailed each stage of the process; Promotion, Migration and Training.  Below are some screenshots and if you wish to view the final videos you may do so on request.

Recounting and researching what has taken place so far in the season this obsessed renegade goes to great lengths to try to discover the truth.

Sebastien Freuler: Design / Animation

Armed with the brief of creating a video to explain the change in the footballing calendar for international matches, myself and a freelancer created this animation to introduce the new Week Of Football.

It was a fun project to work on and was the first time for myself and Sebastien to delve into character animation. In total it took two weeks to complete the project including sound design, voiceover and countless script changes.

The video was broadcast at the EURO 2016 Qualification Draw in Nice, February 2014.

For the Futsal EURO 2014 in Belgium we produced this VT to promote the tournament.

We filmed in Futsal hall with professional players and sublimely compared the actions of the players with actions and attributes you'd witness in other areas of life off the pitch.

Every year UEFA.com opens up a voting system for the fans where by they can nominate their favourite players in each position from a shortlist to determine the ultimate footballing XI. To promote the opening of the voting I produced a promo for UEFA's Facebook page.

I used existing brand assets that had been designed and created this animation to encourage fans to vote.

In addition to the promo I had to make positional attribute graphics for the different positions: Goalkeeper, Defender, Midfielder, Attacker. There were twelve in total which had to made in 7 different languages. English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese and Russian. That was tricky!

For the 2012/13 review of the Champions League season what better place to exhibit the seasons most memorable moments than in the National Gallery in London with the final having been played at Wembley that year.

It was fantastic project to be involved in. Filming in the National Gallery, after hours, we shot an actor walking around observing the paintings in the gallery Then in post production, I covered these priceless works of art with treated photographs from throughout the season as stylised paintings. I spent countless hours in Mocha tracking and rotoscoping the scenes before compositing it all in After Effects.

One of the most enjoyable and rewarding projects I've had the privilege of working on.

For the Champions League final in 2013 I was part of a small team which produced this promote the match for broadcast partner who wished to use it.

This match was a clash between two exceptional German sides that had been also big rival domestically that year. The idea behind the promo was that both side would need to summon their footballing powers if they were to defeat the other and win the trophy.

To commemorate two prolific goal scoring seasons in the Europa League for Radamel Falcao, myself and a colleague we asked to produced a video to highlight that Radamel was a 'goal machine' so naturally designed some cool animating HUD's to show off his goalscoring prowess.

For the Champions League Season Review of 2011-12 we used the setting of the final, the Allianz Arena, Munich to showcase all of the drama from the campaign. The Allianz Arena is a unique 68,000 capacity stadium that has custom built lights around the whole of the exterior of the stadia. A spectacular site at night. A small team of us went and filmed the stadium at night with the kind co-operation of Bayern Munich football club turned the ligts on and of all night whilst filming throughout the evening. The action from the season was then later composited in After Effects.

To launch the newly branded European Qualifiers this video was put together to explain the brand values behind the competition. In essence the brand message is to 'play with heart'. To support this, secondary brand positioning messages 'play with honour', 'play for your country' and 'play with ambition' were brought in as transitional graphics throughout the VT.

For an internal presentation to showcase what the TV Production department had achieved at EURO 2012 we produced this video to represent the vast amount of content and services that were delivered so that the world could watch Europe's biggest football tournament.
The boxes were made in Cinema 4D and composited into an empty room. Then in After Effects I simulated footage being projected from different angles onto them.

Ithaca Audio also produced the audio mashup for the VT.

This title sequence was part of a rebranding process of The FA's online media channel. The FA recently created an identity for it's programming called FAtv. It was made available to broadcasters internationally as well as the place to video content on theFA.com.

The FA wanted a series of title sequences, stings and on screen graphics for this programming. The idea was to create a recognisable brand with these sequences and it agreed that the sequences for the different programming would be the same apart from the video content within which would be relevant to the programme.

The common theme throughout the different programming in particular the main two shows being England and FA Cup highlights was Wembley Stadium 'the home of English Football'. It is fortress in which England plays and it is the goal for all team competing in the FA Cup. So the idea was for the memories of past and current England players to start to build and forge this home. The sequence progresses the stadium forms and resolves on the reveal of the FAtv logo within the stadium.

Wurmers were appointed by the BBC to produce the presentation graphics for this year’s Six Nations rugby tournament.  Design studio 'Intro' had created the titles for the show and the BBC wanted the presentations graphics to be in keeping with it. 

What Wurmsers required was an After Effects project setting up which they could update easily onsite by simply replacing files.   So several templates were setup with replaceable elements that were relevant to individual teams for One to Watch, Scene Set and Tale of the Half.

Davis Cup

The Davis Cup is a prestigious tennis tournament, steeped in over a hundred years of history, with nations competing against one another from across the globe for the trophy.  The ITF wanted a title sequence that reflected all of this.  The idea behind the titles was to set it within a travel journal, to help give the viewer the sense of journey.  A traveller has documented his time watching the tournament being played all over the world collecting tickets stubs, postcards and animated photographs along the way.

Fed Cup Titles

The Fed Cup is an international tennis tournament for women.  The ITF wanted a fresh and exciting  new look for the competitions titles, one that showcased the quality, intensity and emotion of the tournament.  In this sequence the stars compete against one another, across the universe, battling for the pride of their nation.

Setanta Sports were a major client of the production company I worked for before it sadly ceased transmitting in 2009.  I really enjoyed the two years working with them, they we very open to new ideas and always encouraged creative freedom.  I produced a series of titles and promotions for their three main channels and also operated their studio graphics on live European matches and even enjoyed a two trips to U.S. to operated graphics for the The Players tournament in Jacksonville, Florida.

Roland Garros is a major tennis tournament that is played annually in Paris. 

In 2009 I was the lead designer on the project and was challenged with creating graphics for the preview show and the elements that were to used in the live studio production.  These included seeding stings for the top 20 male and female competitors, individual court and day wipes, location maps, highlight stings for the web and pieces for the preview show.

Chelsea TV is the official club channel of Chelsea football club.  I worked with the channel on many occasions.   Every season they required new programme titles and studio graphics and had a contract which the production company I used to work for to produce.  Below are some of the titles that I have designed for the channel between 2005-2010.

In 2006 the National Hockey Championships needed a set of titles creating for the programme as it broadcast on the Sky platform.  With little / no budget it was left to me and colleague to put in the extra and effort and late nights to produce this title sequence for them.
